Maria in The New Yorker

"The alternative comedian Maria Bamford’s new Web series “Ask My Mom!” is a fake-advice show in which Bamford poses viewer-submitted questions to her seventy-year-old mother, Marilyn—about sex, or religion, or raising kids—and then impersonates her mom absentmindedly responding as she goes about her household routines. There have been eight episodes so far, each only around a minute and a half long, but, like all of Bamford’s work, they are so dense with her complex, dark comedy that they need to be watched very attentively, or several times in a row....."
